Standard Grade French/Spanish Course Outline

• Reading 35% (double weighted)
• Speaking 30% (double weighted)
  • transactional (booking into a hotel)
  • conversation (family relationships or home area)
  • presentation (daily routine)

The transactional speaking task is completed in S3 and the conversation and presentation are completed during S4.

• Listening 20%
• Writing 15% (folio of 3 pieces)

Pupils are expected to write a short essay on a variety of topics throughout S3-4

• Credit – 100 words
• General – 50 words
• Foundation – 25 words

Deadlines

Speaking assessments and the writing folio are completed by the end of March in S4 and pupils are required to sit exams for reading and listening in May.
