Some things never change! The quote below is many years old but sounds just as relevant today as it ever has.

‘Society today is experiencing a multitude of changes as a direct consequence of the increasing growth in the use of computers and communications technology. Education should, and indeed must, reflect these changes. It is essential in such an environment to understand and to be able to adapt to, continuing technological development. Equally it is essential to cope with it's effects on every day life at home, at work and in leisure time.'

Computing is a dynamic and rapidly changing subject which provides pupils with important skills for today's world.
